WE ARE BUILDING A NEW KIND OF SNOWMAN

Yes, this is what our yard by the sea looks like at the moment.

Little Mistaya went outside to do her chores and somewhere along the way she found one of her well hidden rawhide chew bones under all this snow!
Of course she didn't even make it to the front door when she remembered that inside the house was her empty food bowl so she is staying outside to eat this treasure...no matter what the winter conditions.

But as you can see, a blizzard has hit our little home and she seems to be either disappearing or trying to pretend she is a new style snowman!

You see, Mistaya is on a diet and I am sure she decided she would rather take her chances with the stormy weather than give up this yummy, soggy, snow soaked rawhide chew for an empty food bowl.

Of course I became worried about her so I finally got her to come in the house before she froze like a snowman.

Oh, She came in because I let her bring in her rawhide snow soaked chew.  That was the only way she really wanted to come inside on this wintry night!

Of course the snowflakes that had accumulated on her back had frozen into one big black dogie hair ice cube.

ANOTHER THEME DAY

With all the unexpected snow we have been having here by the sea it made me think about our winters in Montana.
So I am posting some of my photos that I took near our home there during the winters we lived there. Some majestic mountains appear more than once because  each day...or each winter they always look so different.
Sometimes if just depended on the time of the year.
or the amount of  snow changes their entire look.
Some were taken off my front porch.
Some just because we just had a very heavy snow storm.
The picture below was taken in Montana but it is a odd shaped mountain across the great divide in the state of Idaho.
The following picture the hill just across our country road in Montana.

I thought the light cast of clouds on the mountain when we were experiencing some winds made a very pretty picture.
I do miss these views that were so close to our home in Montana but I don't miss the 21 degrees below zero temperatures!!

Enjoy all the beautiful scenes you will see during this winter.  There is beauty in all of Mother Nature and she is just waiting for you to capture many of them with your own camera.

BETWEEN SNOW STORMS

M.O.M. took this picture during one of the rare moments that it actually stopped snowing for a few minutes this afternoon.
It looks just like some of the photos that she took of me while we lived in Montana.  We are having a real hard time believing that we really live 6 feet above sea level here by the sea!
M.O.M. had told me that when we moved to the house by the sea that I may not see my favorite thing...snow...again.  So I was soooo glad to get to go for a walk with her this afternoon,  She let me go with her around the neighborhood without my collar and leash. I had so much fun running up and down the sidewalks in the snow...just like the old days in Montana.

I THOUGHT WE WERE LIVING AT SEA LEVEL NOW

Yes, the last time I looked, we still lived at 6 feet and 5 inches above sea level.
But there is something about the 2 following pictures that says "High Elevation With Winter Snow"!

11 AM TODAY
3:00 THIS AFTERNOON.
Hmmm...I wonder what the beach is like today?

MAYBE SPRING IS HERE

M.O.M. said she wished that she had received these photos in time to post them on the Easter blog. But we will post them today in hopes that it really is spring.
Pictures of little kittens always seems to pull the heartstrings. Then add in a tiny baby chic and you always have a winner!!
We finally had a sunny day without any snow. Yesterday we did have sunshine but it also snowed while the sun was shining. I think M.O.M. is wishing real hard for spring to arrive here in Montana.

WALKIN' ,RUNNIN', WALKIN', MORE RUNNIN'!

This is a picture of the expression on my face this morning when M.O.M. asked me if I wanted to go on a walk with all the ladies in her walking group.
If you can read dog body language my expression says..."What are you waiting for???"
Because there were lot's of walkers and a young dog that wasn't allowed to run off leash for awhile, I had to wear my leash. I wasn't too happy at first but I knew sometime along the way M.O.M. was going to let me run.
I think she was real happy that I did have my leash on when we crossed this bridge high above the mountain creek. I did hear a gasp from a few of the ladies but I never really had any plans to actually jump down into the water. M.O.M. remembered to bring a bottle of water for me so I wasn't thirsty enough to jump!
I did get off the leash and I had so much fun running everywhere. Of course I always try to be real careful of the ladies and not run into one of them and knock them down. I imagine if I did that I wouldn't be allowed to join them on the walks anymore.
If you look real hard at the picture above you can see me just at the edge of the water...that black looking thing that blends into the black sand like stuff. The water was ice cold and tasted so good.
I had a lot of fun today and look forward to joining the walking group again soon. I sure hope we can find a walking group at our new home. If not maybe M.O.M. can start one for us!

LET'S PLAY FRISBEE!!

We had another snow storm during the night so there was plenty of snow for me to play in this morning. Gosh, every time I think it is spring it snows again.

Oh believe me, I am not complaining cause I know pretty soon we will be living where it does not snow so I must spend as much time outside playing in it as possible. But M.O.M. has mentioned that we can drive up to the mountains near our new home and play in the snow during the winter. So I guess I will get to see it once in a while during my new life.
Gosh, my 'new life'. I am going some where that I do not have any friends and do not know my way around. But there is a real nice fence to keep me safe and I will still be able to sit on the front porch and watch people and maybe some dogs go by. The neighbors next door have 3 dogs but they have installed at real tall solid fence between our homes so I will only be able to hear them and not play with them. But there is a great park not far form the house so maybe I can find a new friend there. And of course all those walks on the beach are sure to produce some new friends too.
We need to return to the Humane Society that rescued me so I could adopt my new family, we need to tell them goodbye. We have made regular visits there so we will not leave town without them knowing it.
I have heard talk about a Easter Bunny so I have been spending a lot of my time this afternoon, sitting on the back deck thinking I might see something of him. But since I have never seen a bunny...not even a Easter Bunny..I am not sure I would recognise one if he did hop into my yard!
So if anything odd wanders through I will try to get M.O.M. to take a photo for you.

LOOK AT ME...LOOK AT ME!

I could hear M.O.M. saying "Now, just how are you going to get down from there???"

And I thought...Just watch me!!!
Here I go!!

See, I told you I could get down...and I even found what I was looking for.....
Oops, I can't seem to find my water supply that is usually here. Well, I will just have to lick some of this snow to wet my tongue. Yum!!
Even without my fresh water to drink I still had a very fun time on my walk with M.O.M. today.

ANOTHER STRANGE WEATHER DAY

We are having very strange weather here in Montana!

Yesterday M.O.M. and I took a walk when the temperature reached 73 degrees. It was such a beautiful day that we went on a longer walk than usual.

This morning I found fresh snow in my yard...Hurray!!!!!!!! So I went out early and played in it because I was sure it wouldn't be there for long. And as we all headed into town at 11 a.m. today most of my snow was already gone...except in the shadow of our house on the front lawn. But when we arrived back home about 20 minutes later most of that was gone too. Oh well, I will just dream about it instead!

The following is for all of my Cat friends.....

A SPLIT MOMENT IN TIME

THANK YOU EVERYONE---IT CAME! IT CAME!!!

Thank you everyone who was so kind to send me some of their snow.
It came some time during the night and I found it early this morning. You are all so wonderful to share all of this with me. This is the best snow we have had all winter. M.O.M. had told me earlier that since the first day of spring was next week that I may not get to play in any snow any more. Since we are moving to the Washington coast I my not see snow again.
But what a wonderful surprise for me today. I have spent most of my time already this morning running and playing in this pretty stuff...just in case it goes away again way to soon.
But the very best part of this wonderful surprise is....the delivery man didn't charge us any shipping! Yahoo!!!! Thank you everyone for this awesome gift!

A MESSAGE FROM M.O.M.

Hi everyone, my M.O.M. wanted me to let all of you know that M.O.M. and M.O.D. are real busy right now trying to get our home ready to sell. They do take time during each day to throw my favorite ball for me or take me for a short walk. But for now we just can't get onto my blog site to post for awhile. We all hope all of you understand and we will post as often as we can in between painting, packing and sleeping!!

Thank you for understanding our absence. Hugs and wags to all my blogger friends, Mistaya

THANKS M.O.M. FOR MAKING ME FEEL BETTER

M.O.M. looked out the front window today and this is the scene she saw. I think it made her feel kind of sad....look at the next picture closer and I think you will understand why she feels this way.......
She noticed that I have spent a lot of my day lying in the driveway. Usually if I am waiting for M.O.D. to come home from work I am lying in the opposite direction so I can see him coming down the road. This time I was facing the house. I know M.O.M. understands how much I miss my snow and she has explained that there is nothing we can do about it.
So I was very excited when she came out and asked me if I wanted to go on a walk with her. Oh my gosh!! Of course I do!
But this time we walked down our road to the north. It is a bit shorter trip but I know M.O.M. remembers that there are several of my friends that live down that way that I have not gotten to speak with in a while.

So off I ran like the wind. It felt so good to be out running free and knowing M.O.M. was right behind me...well she can't walk as fast as I can run but I did keep an eye on her so she wouldn't get lost.
This is our first stop on our walk. Two beautiful Golden Retrievers live in this very large fenced in yard. When I come to visit the 3 of us run as fast as we can along this long fence, reach the corner of their yard and turn around and run back again. We have a lot of fun in a very short time!
Our next stop is to say Hello to my 3 Mule friends. They were eating their dinner and didn't seem to want to come over to the fence to say hello to me. That's okay, it was good to see them anyway.
These Mules get to eat from one of those giant round bales of hay. But instead of eating from the outside in, they like to tear it apart and eat the inside first!! Silly Mules..they have their feet on their dinner table!!
So my day turned out pretty good thanks to M.O.M. taking me for a very fun walk. She laughs when the term 'went for a walk' is mentioned...she says I rarely walk when we are on our road.

I hope all of you, who have gotten the snow instead of me, begin to get warmer weather and it finally melts off your roof and yards. You can tell by my photos that our weather is beautiful..I am beginning to like it too! But M.O.M. keeps reminding me that we can get snow here clear into June. Oh boy!! There is still hope!

I AM STILL WAITING!!

Okay, I just want all of you to know that I have been sitting on the front porch waiting for your "posts" that are supposed to be bringing me back all of my snow. Strange, but I still can not find any!

Let me explain again!!! This picture shows just exactly what it should look like from my front porch..
But NO!! .... this is what I am seeing...
M.O.M. took this Photo while she was standing beside me on the front porch this afternoon and I must ask..."Do any of you see any of my snow in this picture"??
No, of course not because the "post" man hasn't brought me any yet!!
Okay, maybe because of your weather the post man is a little behind schedule so I will be willing to wait a bit longer. I guess I will just have to play in the dust and dirt for awhile. Oh Whoa is Me!!!

February 17, 2010

OKAY, WHERE IS MY SNOW?

I have looked everywhere and I just can't find my snow anywhere! I am sure there has to be some here somewhere...but where??
Did one of my blog pals come here and take it all home with them? I suppose it is possible that one of them did, but I really can't imaging one of my cat friends doing that. I know they don't like snow very much.
And several of my dog friends are a bit to short to really want to have very much snow at their house. So this is beginning to narrow the search just a bit.
Okay, it's time some of my bigger breed friends fess up...come on... you know who I am talking too...I can see those smirks on your muzzles!
Gosh, I miss my sweet, soft, cold snow.

I AM DOING MY FAVORITE THING!!

Yes, running like crazy is one of my favorite things in my life. M.O.M. took these photos of me the first days of February. Snow is so much fun to race around in and of course I do love to drag my nose along as I am running and eat as much snow as I can.
The photo below is where I really love to run...on our dirt road. Of course it is covered with beautiful fluffy snow. Where did all my wonderful fluffy snow go?? That's my yard I am running on...it shoud be covered in snow! M.O.M. took this photo today and there is not a flake of snow left!
Here I am running on our driveway and I still can't find my snow.
And here is a pic of me running on my dirt road today and you can see that it is covered in nothing but MUD!
Is my beautiful fluffy snow gone forever?...again?
But I must say, I have learned that my major objective is to run as fast as I can...anywhere there is open space...on dirt..on snow...even on ice. I guess I just love to run!

THE MYSTERY OF MY PAW PRINTS

A few days ago I had asked M.O.M. where my paw prints in the snow disappear to every night. I had noticed that each time she and I went out for another walk that there wasn't much left if anything at all of my cute paw prints which I had left in the snow the previous day.
Well, today she finally told me the story....
M.O.M. said she believes that after I have left my little paw prints in the snow, that when it is real quiet and there is no one around, the Special Angels in Puppy Heaven come here and collect up all the puppy paw prints they can find.
After collecting as many Puppy Paw Prints as their pretty Golden Baskets will hold, they quietly float back to Heaven where all the sweet little puppies are waiting for their return.
She then explained to me that puppies in Heaven do not have snow there. The Puppy Angels bring them my snowy paw prints so all the puppies can walk in them and feel the soft, cold snow beneath their little paws just like I do. M.O.M. said that she didn't think there is snow in Heaven as it must be a warm soft place for all Puppies.
The above photo shows what is left of my paw prints after the Puppy Angels have taken all that they need to fill their beautiful Paw Print baskets.
Of course, after M.O.M. had told me this wonderful story I have been spending as much time as possible outside running around in the snow leaving as many Puppy Paw Prints as possilbe for the Puppy Angels before all of our snow is gone for the season.
Thank you M.O.M., for helping me understand.

A SPRING DAY IN FEBURARY IN MONTANA

We had such a wonderful walk during a winter day today. As we started down our little road the clouds seemed to part just for us. As you can see, there were several black clouds hanging about but the skies stayed a brilliant blue through my entire walk with M.O.M.
M.O.M. took this picture of my little paw prints. Maybe I can get her to explain where my paw prints go. Some days when we go out for walks, my prints from the day before are gone. I will make a point to ask her that question on our walk tomorrow. Right now I am very tired from all the running I did today so I think I had better take a nap before it is time to go to bed!

WE HAVE BEEN BUSY

M.O.M. and I want to say we are sorry for not keeping up with our posts the last few days. We have had company and have not been near the computer thing. But of course both M.O.M. and M.O.D. have made sure that we go out and chase the ball real fast at least once a day. So I have still gotten in plenty of run time. Gosh I love to run fast. And running after that ball is so much fun. But sometimes it rolls off the road ahead of me and I do have a hard time finding it in the snow bank. But I even enjoy that part of it too!
So we hope to get back to posting tomorrow....see you all then...Mistaya
