HORNET MYSTERY SOLVED

M.O.M. has mentioned to M.O.D. several times this summer that she was surprised by the lack of Hornets on our back deck. Summers past they were always busy building thier nests in the eaves of the deck and bothering M.O.M. and M.O.D. all summer long.

But not this summer.

Then today when M.O.M. and I were out in the back yard near my kennel, she noticed that almost all of the leaves on the large Lilac bush have fallen off already. Then we suddenly looked up and there was a very large Hornets nest on a Lilac branch just above my kenne!

This ugly nest is actually the size of a basketball!! Oh My Gosh!

I think it's probably a good thing we didn't know it was there as we both would have been very scared! So it is being removed to make sure these mean little creatures do not take up residence above my kennel again next summer.

M.O.M. IS BUSY TODAY

M.O.M. was busy on the computer a lot today so I kept myself real close to her in case she decided to go outside because I wanted to go with her if she did.
It was pretty comfortable while she was on her computer because she used her laptop in the living room so I took this opportunity to take a great nap. Gosh, why does my pillow feels so hard??
I got real excited when I went out the back door to the deck and saw Cat Sister. I thought, "Oh my gosh...she is finally in jail where she belongs!!!" Then I realized she was just napping under the footstool M.O.M. uses out there when she is reading her books. Rats.

M.O.M. IS A BIT UPSET WITH ME

M.O.M. and I went on a wonderful walk today because the sun was shining and the air felt so good. But of course I didn't stop to realize how warm it really was cause I was running like the wind everywhere!

By the time we turned around to head home I had made myself kind of over heated and I kind of collapsed in front of M.O.M. in some shade on our dirt road. She sat down at the edge of the road and waited with me.
M.O.M. made me lay there until my panting had slowed down and my tongue was no longer dragging on the road!
So after I had cooled down a bit we started on our way back home. Of course I stayed pretty close to her cause I was really just to tired to run anymore. Finding water in the irrigation ditch was a wonderful treat for me today!!!
And of course as you know by the time we venture out again I will have no memory of making myself so hot and uncomfortable. And I know that M.O.M. will once again forgive me for my short memory!! I sure love M.O.M.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO NAP?

Oh, that's looks a little awkward....
Well, that does look like it could be nice and warm...

Oh, now that looks a bit more comfy...

That does have a good purpose...in case you wake up real hungry...

Now that looks good as long as no one moves!

That's a good way to keep mom from using the computer to much...

I can't stay awake when I read too much either!!

A FUN DOG DAY

I rode with M.O.M. to pick up M.O.D. after he had gotten off work today. I love watching where we are going and seeing all the birds flying around the fields on the way.
No... I am not wearing my seat belt...don't tell anyone!!!

A FUN POST FOR MY SQUIRREL FRIENDS

Hey! Are you sharing with that little bird friend??

This guy looks like he has had a tough day!

Is the little "Rabbit" keeping you awake?

I think this guy has been collecting far too many nuts for the upcoming winter!

Maybe tomorrow I can post some pictures of kittens and such for my other friends...check back then to see!

PUPPY SIZE

Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We have been back to this animal shelter at least five times. "It has been weeks now since we started all of this," the mother told the volunteer.
'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked. 'Puppy size!' replied the mother. 'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.' 'I know.... we have seen most of them, ' the mom said in frustration.
Just then Danielle came walking back into the office. 'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom. 'No, not this time,' Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?'
The women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed. You never know when we will get more dogs. "Unfortunately there is always a supply", the volunteer said. Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed toward the door. "Don't worry, I will find one this weekend" she said.
Over the next few days Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being to particular. "It's this weekend or we are not looking anymore," Dad finally said in frustration. "We don't want to hear anything more about this puppy size either," mom added.
Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning. By now Danielle knew her way around so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs. Tired of the routine mom sat in the waiting room near the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.
Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one of them. One by one she search for the perfect pup. The volunteer opened another cage door and the child carefully picked up the little puppy and held it closely. This time she held it a little longer.
" Mom, this is it, I found the right puppy!" "He's the one, I know it!", she screamed with joy. "It's the puppy size!"
"But it's the same size as all the other puppies you have held over the last few weeks," Mom said. "No, not the size...the sighs...when I held him in my arms he sighed!,' Danielle said. "Don't you remember one day when I asked you what love is you told me how love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love the bigger the sigh."
The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. When she stooped down to hug the child she did a little of both.
"Mom, every time you hold me I sigh. When you and daddy come home from work and you hug each other you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms."
Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said "Mom, he loves me, I heard the sighs of his heart."
Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of a cool breeze on a hot day.
They are the sighs of God. Take the time to stop and listen, you will be surprised by what you hear.

Hi everyone, as you have noticed M.O.M. has changed the colors of my blog. She said that after a year of my blog color she thought I needed a change. So we are going to try this pretty green for awhile. We hope you like it!

I WENT ON A PUPPY WALK TODAY!

M.O.M. and I finally got out for a walk down the road and through the woods this morning. It was very cold...12 degrees....but M.O.M. and I both felt like we needed some fresh air so she bundled up and off we went. Of course I wear my wonderful black and white coat everywhere I go everyday!! Of course she also said something about both of us needing some good exercises..especially me to work off all those dogie biscuits M.O.D. has been sneaking to me! Oops, I didn't think she would notice. I guess mom's do have eyes in the back of their heads!

THIS ONE IS FOR MY DOGY FRIEND SASHA

I thought of you Sasha because you are going through your crate training. We saw this little dog at a street fair patiently waiting for his people to be done shopping at this booth.

The weather was so beautiful today that M.O.M. and I went on a real long walk in the woods. Gosh, I had so much fun running through the trees and jumping over every thing I could. Of course I could have done this all day but we had to get back home before M.O.D. returned home from his work place. Maybe we can go again tomorrow.

KITTY DAY AT MY BLOG

I thought that today I would post this very cute picture of a kitten to honor all of my cat friends out there in blogland.

DON'T I HAVE A PRETTY SMILE??

I tried to smile real pretty when I was trying to get M.O.M. to go outside with me and play ball. Is it working?

Yes, it worked! We played ball in the yard for awhile and when she noticed that there was not any traffic on our little dirt road today she let me chase the ball on the road. The ball really bounces and rolls real fast out there and it's so much more fun. And because the road is fairly straight we can see if any cars are coming our way. And because M.O.M. has taught me to sit quietly beside the road whenever I hear a car coming she knows I will be cautious while playing.
Of course after chasing that ball I just had to come into the house and rest a bit. I found a sunny spot in the living room by the front windows and was asleep almost before M.O.M. could take off her coat! Thanks M.O.M. for playing with me!

A SAD DAY AT OUR HOUSE

It has been pretty quiet at our house today because M.O.M.'s dear Sister-In-Law passed away this morning. So I will not be doing a post about my adventures this time. I just want to stay close to M.O.M. as she is very sad.

WHAT A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT FOR THIS PUPPY

What a disappointment and heartbreak for this little puppy! I went outside late yesterday afternoon to play in my snow again and the only snow I found in my yard was beside the house where the sun had not shined yet! Oh my gosh! I could not believe it, it was almost all gone. Boy was that a short adventure in this cold fluffy stuff.

I didn't know what to do so I just stood there looking around. Finally M.O.M. came out and after taking my picture she called me back into the house.

Of course I was totally confused about this whole thing and spent most of the evening just lying around thinking about how much fun I had in the morning running through all that fluffy cold stuff. M.O.M. and M.O.D. both noticed that I kept letting out a big sigh and I heard them say that it was probably in disappointment because all the 'snow' had gone away.

So you can imagine my excitement when I went to the front door this morning and M.O.M. opened the door for me and there was, once again, all the white fluffy stuff. I have spent most of the day outside playing in it and hoping it wasn't going away anytime soon again.
I did hear M.O.M. talking on the phone a few minutes ago saying it was 'snowing' very hard at our house. I keep hearing that word 'snow' and I am still not sure what they are talking about. But right now I am one very happy puppy so I am going outside again to run through that white stuff out in my yard. Whoopee!!

I AM THE HAPPIEST DOG IN THE WORLD!

Can you imagine how excited I was when M.O.M called me to the front door this morning? When I went out onto the front porch I thought I was dreaming.

The above photo is when my feet first hit the ground and I began to realize that my very favorite white fluffy stuff was in my yard. I was in complete joy when I felt the stuff under my feet. I was jumping in total delight!

Of course I also remembered how good this stuff tasted so as I ran, I ran my little muzzle along the ground and filled my mouth with this cold yummy stuff.
I was so happy that I just kept running in very big, fast circles. It felt so good.

NO PUPPY WALKS TODAY!

The Temperature is about 33 degrees so M.O.M. and I are staying in the house today. We would go for a fun walk but it is also raining. So I was allowed to bring my favorite chew bone in the house for the day. No I am not spoiled......but it's wonderful to be chewing on my favorite toy and still get to be in the house to keep an eye on M.O.M.

I JUST LOOKED OUT THE LIVING ROOM WINDOW AND IT'S SNOWING!! OH BOY NOW I AM REALLY HAPPY!!!! (I don't think M.O.M. feels the same way, she just gave me a cold stare!!)

YUM! I LOVE PUPPY TREATS

If you look real close you will see that I am actually holding 2 wonderful, delicious, yummy doggie treats in my mouth. Cleaver!
As you can guess, it didn't take me long to learn this trick as I love the taste of my dog biscuits. Well, you know, a dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do!

A PUPPY WALK IN THE WOODS!

M.O.M. and I joined her walking group today for a cold walk in the woods. If you click on this photo you will see that there is snow flakes on the lower branches of this little tree.
I had to stay on my leash most of the time because one side of the road was very steep and dropped about 100 feet down. M.O.M. was afraid that a young pup that was there and I would be so busy playing that we would fall over the edge of the road.
But I did have fun but I did notice that there were no squirrels or chipmunks in the trees today. We did get to see an American Bald eagle that flew very close to us. Of course I had no idea what it was but I heard the ladies say what it was. I do kow he was very big with giant wings!

BRRR, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

(THE WORDS IN THIS PICTURE ARE TO SMALL AND THE WRONG COLOR. SO HERE IS WHAT IT REALLY SAYS)....Ever wonder what our dogs must think of us? I mean, here we come back from a grocery store with the most amazing haul....chicken, pork, half a cow. They must think we are the greatest hunters on earth!
***************************************************
My water bowl in my kennel was frozen this morning and at first I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a drink. Then something in my memory told me I have seen this kind of thing before.

I seem to remember that I had to deal with this before when that yummy white stuff came along....you know.....that really cold, white, deep stuff that I loved to play in some time ago. Is it possible that I will get to play in that amazing fluffy stuff again, to run my nose through it to dig a trail, or to eat as much as I can, or to bury myself as deep as I want again? Oh my gosh, I can hardly wait.

I have to mention a note about my kennel. I really don't spend any time in my kennel anymore as I never leave my unfenced yard without M.O.M. or M.O.D. with me. So M.O.M. has left a pail of water in the kennel for me and also a wonderful area that she covers with sawdust for me to use when I need to relief myself. And of course as soon as she sees me use this area she cleans it up and puts it in the garbage can, so my kennel is always clean and smelling good. And the kennel door is always open so I can come in to rest or use my special spot anytime I want. Yes, life is good for me here at this wonderful home.

PUPPY WISDOM FOR TODAY

The sun is shining but it is only 20 degrees outside so I overheard M.O.M. say to M.O.D. that we will wait to take our speed walk until the temperature rises a bit. Gosh M.O.M., just put on a coat like mine and you would be real warm any time! Geez, these tall people just don't get it.

I HAD PUPPY COMPANY!!

I met 2 new friends this weekend when M.O.M. and M.O.D. had company from Washington state. It seems we have a "black" color theme going here doesn't it?
We had a lot of fun together and I showed them all my favorite watching posts so they could see what was going on outside in my big world.
We had so much fun playing together but because they were about 11 years older than I am they didn't seem to want to run and play like I usually do. But we had a good time anyway just being together.
Of course their visit seemed to end way to soon but I still had fun with them I sure hope we get to see them again someday.
