MAGGIE'S FIRST WALK ON HER LEASH

The sun came out this afternoon so I thought that was the perfect time to take the dogs for a walk.

So I dug out the collars and retractable leashes and put them on the dogs and headed down the street.

Well, almost!!

Come on now girls, let's get our acts together!!!

In all fairness, this was just the second time Maggie has walked on a retractable leash so she really was doing rather well.

Oh now, that is more like it ladies!

We managed to walk all the way down to the end of our street (just one block) and walked a distance on the Harbor Dike Trail.

I got brave and took them off leash...
And they had the time of their lives!
Maggie worked so hard to try to keep up with Mistaya
and Mistaya did stop and return to Maggie so they could run together once in awhile.

Maggie may be small but she has the heart of a greyhound!  She tries to run so fast that her little legs were working like pistons.  And once in awhile I saw her hind legs actually try to get ahead of her front legs.  A very funny sight!

After we returned home it did not take Maggie long to find a comfy spot on the couch to get in a well deserved nap after her big excursion.....
I clicked this picture, turned away for just a moment...and then...
This is what I saw....
Sweet dreams little princess.

I am very thankful for having such an intelligent dog as Mistaya to mentor our little Maggie.  Maggie is watching everything Mistaya does and is learning so very quickly.
She was with us just 4 days when I heard her go to the door and scratch to be let out to do her business.   Not even 3 months old yet!!
Thank you Mistaya for being such a wonderful dog.

  2. Hi Rae, the joy these 2 dogs bring us is trully amazing. They seem to enjoy each other alot and I am happy that Mistaya has someone so cute to play with. We did worry at first that Mistaya was a bit to large and rough for Maggie but it didn't take but two rough sessions with each other and Maggie set Mistaya straight right away. She found her voice and told Mistaya just what she thought about that behavior!! Now they are best friends. So Sweet.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Hugs, Gail

  5. Barbara, I see the same thing..they are sooo much alike it is amazing. And we love her so much..she is so smart. She doesn't take any meanness from Mistaya either. Once she found her voice she could be as tough as Mistaya was.Quiet the little tough one now!

  6. Madi, Mistaya has become a wonderful teacher and mentor to Maggie. Mistaya has always sat at attention right outside the kitchen door (she sits on the living room rug) and watches me as I fill her food bowl. I couldn't beleive it when I looked over the second day was here, and there she was sitting right beside Mistaya waiting for her bowl too.
Maybe dogs really do speak to each other in a secret language.
Have a great weekend, hugs, gail
