THE WORLD'S LARGEST SPRUCE TREE IS LIVING NEAR US!!

We visited this massive tree on one of our journeys up the Washington State Coast.
It is one of those things that can put your life back in perspective just by it's enormous size and ability to just keep growing.  1,000 years old....amazing!  What a beautiful site and its bark felt as tough as steel.
12 FEET of rain per year....get out the rain gear!!

Yes, that's me hidden in the shadows of a tree.  That Spruce is so unbelievably tall!

Okay, a bit closer photo.....can you tell it is me?

The tree is so tall that it wasn't possible to get a full length photo of this beauty.
We weren't sure how far off the road this tree was located so we left little Mistaya in the car.  There were a lot of visitors at the tree so I think we made a good decision about her today.  Of course we made up for it by taking just down the road to a wonderful sandy beach.  Of course she ran and ran, then ran some more!!

  8. Wow, that is a big spruce. I love all the giant trees here on the west coast.

We have been on this side of the Cascades Mtns. for almost ten years, I had forgotten how much rain you get over that way. 12' is a lot!
