OKAY..WE GIVE UP

I have been trying for 3 days to post a story of Mistaya's presents from Jazzi's Christmas Exchange but have had very little luck.
Once in a while I could upload one photo per hour. Now the screen wants me to sign in to post my own photos!?? Then is says it can not complete my request.
Crazy.

I so give up!  I will post the pictures that I have finally uploaded.

I am sorry Maggie, I had several great pictures of Mistaya opening her wonderful presents from you but they won't allow me to upload them. So here is what we have today...

Mistaya was very excited to finally get to open her Christmas Exchange gift from her new friend Maggie.

Of course she wanted to pull everything out of the box and play with them all at once!
She was very quick to claim "Purple Guy" as her own.

Of course this can of doggie biscuits really caught her attention and she dove right into them.  We had to stop her or she would have eaten the entire contain of them!
When she spotted the brown bear near the bottom of the bag she did stop and stare for a minute.

But the moment M.O.D. picked it out of the bag Mistaya grabbed it and took off to her bed.
I think in this picture she is having a conversation with the cute little bear!  I sure wish I knew what they were talking about.
Then she remembered "Purple Guy" and at once she "put him in his place" and we rarely see her without him...usually held tightly in her teeth.
And we do believe that Maggie has found a gift that little Mistaya can not chew to pieces.
Believe me...she has tried!!!

Thank you Maggie for all the wonderful gifts you sent Mistaya for Jazzi's Christmas Gift Exchange. She enjoys them all.
We hope you and Mitch and your family have a wonderful Happy New Year.  And we are looking forward to reading more of you new adventures in the coming year.
Hugs and wags to you, Mistaya

video
This cute scene took place near out driveway today.  I guess everything needs a bath now and then.

Notice the rest of the flock all waiting across the street for their turn at a bath.
This was a very large flock of birds that hang around our street most days.  They are quiet but are very noticealbe in their large numbers.

Four young Sitkablack-tailed bucks fell upon good luck Sunday as they were pulled from the icy waters of Stephens Passage, Alaska by a group of locals on Tom Satre's 62-foot charter vessel.

The four juvenile Sitka black-tailed deer swam directly toward the boat.

Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking directly at the humans on board.
Clearly, the bucks were distressed.
With help, the typically skittish and absolutely wild animals came willingly onto the boat.

Once onboard, they collapsed with exhaustion, shivering.

Here the rescued bucks rest on the back of Tom Satre's boat, the Alaska Quest.

All four deer were transported to Taku Harbour.

Once the group reached the dock, the first buck that had been pulled from the water hopped onto the dock, looked back, then leapt into the Harbour, swam to shore, and disappeared into the forest.

After a bit of prodding and assistance from the humans, two others followed suit, but one deer needed more help.

Here he is being transported by Tom Satre.

Tom, Anna and Tim Satre help the last of the "button" bucks to its feet. They did not know how long the deer had been in the icy waters or if there had been others who did not survive.

The good Samaritans (humans) describe their experience as "one of those defining moments in life."

I'm sure it was for the deer, as well.

Mistaya has been doing well with her refresher training course.  I try to get her out into the neighbor several times a day and of course she enjoys every moment of it.

We drove by the Humane Society today but as our luck would have it...they were closed. So we will try again maybe tomorrow.

The Christmas cartoon below is for all our Kitty blogging friends!!
Merry Christmas!

I have over heard M.O.M. &  M.O.D. talking about going to the Humane Society to look for something...but what??

I know they are frustrated about  my behavior lately.   I wish I could explain it to them but I don't know how to get them to understand me.  I just hope that they are not planning to take me back to the "dog pound"....oh my gosh!!!

**********************************************

Hi, this is Mistaya's mom.  Yes, we are still worried about Mistaya's behavior and have decided that she will benefit having another dog live with us.  We are going to visit our local Humane Society to see if they have a pup that would be a good fit with Mistaya.  And we understand that it may take several tries to find the right pup that will fit in our family with our Mistaya.  But we love her so much that we want to help her find her happiness again.

We will post photos of our search and progress.

Posted edited by M.O.M............... after reading my comments on this post I realized that I used the wrong phrase...I wrote...."she will benefit having another dog live with us".  What I really meant to say..and I apologise for not posting it correctly the first time, is......"She will benefit having another dog "join our family."
If we bring a new dog home it will be with the full intentions that this new dog will be a forever member of our family.  So we promise to choose wisely the first time.
Thanks, M.O.M.

A CHRISTMAS COMFORT

A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard.
During the night the folks came across this scene.

An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night.

NO NEW NEWS YET :)

It's Tuesday afternoon and we still have not had a knock on the door by a man in uniform.  I hope that is good news.
M.O.M. met my wonderful mail lady this morning and explained why I may not be in the front yard when she delivers our mail.  M.O.M. did tell her that they will watch for her each day and as she gets to our house they will let me out to greet her.  The poor sweet lady was so sad about what had happened with me she knelt down and gave me a wonderful soft huge.
Of course M.O.M. let her give me a few biscuits and said it would be alright to put a few in the mailbox if I do not get out to see her.  That's nice.
I am in the house watching M.O.M. as she is starting to put up the Christmas tree in the living room.  The lights are so bright and pretty and she is hanging the beautiful glass balls all over the tree.
As the tree trimming progress M.O.M. will get pictures and will post them real soon.

I love you all for following me and you computer hugs have helped me to feel a bit better about myself. Thank you, Mistaya

SADLY, MY LIFE HAS CHANGED FOREVER

My world is changing forever and I can't do anything about it.
I attended a Swap Meet with M.O.M. & M.O.D. this weekend . They allowed us dogs in the building and I spent my time under a table in the sale booth.

Everything went well and I was taken outside often to do my duties.

On one of the return trips back to the sale booth, a nice lady with 3 little girls...they looked about 2, 4 and 5 years old approached M.O.M. and I and asked if the girls could pet me. Of course M.O.M. said Okay.
Everything went okay for a minute or two then I realized the little girls were getting very close to me. I tried to move back a little to show them I was a little scared but the tallest one leaned down and got closer to my face.

In a moment of panic I lunged at this stranger and without thinking I bit her in her face.

Instantly I heard M.O.M. scream my name as the little girl screamed in pain.

And my world is now changing.

My lower jaw poked a hole in her lower lip and my upper teeth made a 2 slight marks just above her eye.

Of course there was blood all over the little girls mouth and M.O.M. immediately pulled me into the booth and tied my leash to the table leg then hurried back to the little girl and her mother.

I thought M.O.M. was going to faint right there! She said "I am soo sorry" over and over again to the mother as the little girl cried. M.O.M. gave her a tissue to help stop the flow of blood.

M.O.M. followed the family into the restroom to put some water on her lip. The lady was kind to M.O.M. as M.O.M. couldn't stop the tears coming from her eyes. The lady said that everything was okay and her little girl will be okay and she even gave M.O.M. a hug! She stayed until the family headed home.

I knew immediately when M.O.M. returned to the booth that my life would never be the same again from this moment forward.

I know how it feels when someone says or does something that they instantly knew they can never take back.  She marched me out the door and put me in the car, slammed the door and walked away.

M.O.D. had been out of the building and knew nothing about this incident until he returned.  He was not happy with me either.

I know they tried to carry on with their day but M.O.M. was so upset.

And then things got worse for me.

Several hours later M.O.M.  saw a uniformed sheriff coming down the aisle and she knew exactly who he was looking for.  She smiled pleasantly at him as he approached her asking if she had a small black dog!   "Yes" she said.  He asked about the incident and explained that it was reported to his office and he is just asking a few questions about it.  And could he please see the guilty dog.

So they came out to our car and M.O.M. opened the door so he could see that I really was a sweet little dog.  He then asked if I had proof of my Rabies shots and fortunately I had my collar on that holds my Rabies tag.  He was very pleased to see that and said that the mother was really just concerned if my shots were up to date.

He said he would call the mother to let her know and that she had said she doesn't want to file any charges or get me in trouble (tooo late for me!!).

Then M.O.M. had to fill out a statement about how she thought the incident happened. The nice man told M.O.M. just what the lady had made in her statement and M.O.M. knew the lady had told the truth.  M.O.M. wrote just about the same thing in hers.

The sheriff wanted to know all about me,,,how long had she owned me, what is my typical attitude, had I ever done anything like this before, my breed and my age.  Even took several pictures of me.

He told her that he thought everything would be alright but there could be a possibility that they could list me as a "Dangerous Dog" and if this type of thing EVER happened again that I would then be deemed a "Vicious Dog" and would have to be disposed of.

As the interview ended M.O.M. thanked the man for his kindness to her and I could tell as she quietly put me back in the car that I was in very deep trouble.  I saw a tear slip down her cheek as she shut the door and returned to the sale building.

Of course the drive home that evening was one of silence for me.  And I could feel the anger and fear in her voice as she and M.O.D. talked quietly all the way home.

So today starts the beginning of my different life.  They will be putting up a gate so I must stay in the backyard and not have access the the yard next to the sidewalk.  And I overheard M.O.M. telling M.O.D.  that it is time to do a strict refresher course in my training.

I will try to do my very best to do just what they want me to do and be happy about it too.

A very important message to all my dear dog freinds all over the world....

No matter what you think...do not ever...ever...injure a human in any way.  The consequences are very painful and it is even more difficult to earn your peoples trust back again.  I will regret this day and my actions for the rest of my life.
My actions have changed my entire life forever.

THIS IS MY CHRISTMAS GIFT TO YOU

From Gail and Mistaya...author unknown

This is one of the kindest things you may ever see..

It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,

Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her.. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it.. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand.. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven.

Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by..

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

Love,

God
