OUR ANIMAL NEIGHBORS IN MONTANA AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

M.O.M. and M.O.D. were talking today about all the beautiful wildlife that is here in Montana. We are sure that some of these will not be seen when we move to the ocean.

We have seen....
Beautiful Mule Deer and White Tail Deer...many just outside our windows in our yard....
Many varieties of Mysterious Hawks...many with wing spans up to 2 and 1/2 feet.....
The glorious Golden Eagle with it's unbelievable 7 foot wing span....
The frightening Grey Wolf that has taken many family dogs and numerous new born animals from near by ranches...
The quiet and passive Big Horn Sheep that loves the steep cliffs by the road sides....
And one of my favorites..the Majestic American Bald Eagle. He always brings a feel of excitement and wonder when spotted in the trees along the river as he awaits an unsuspecting fish to swim by for lunch...
And My beloved Moose. My close encounter with this gentle Moose on one of our hikes in the woods was one of my most memorable moments of living in Montana. He meant us no harm just as he seemed to sense that we also meant him no harm. We shared a trail with a peaceful giant that day and I shall never forget how fortunate I felt that day on his trail.
To witness the beauty and grace as 3 amazing Osprey stretched their 5 1/2 foot wing span and glided for a long thrilling moment above me in my yard as they seemed to be dancing together on the breeze that day.
These are sights that will be difficult to find when M.O.D. and M.O.M. and I move from my homeland. But I have no doubt that it will not take the 3 of us very long to find beautiful wonders at our next destination. And of course I can't wait to see what surprises await me at the ocean beaches at our new home. A lot of wonderful adventures for this little pup to share with all of you in the new year!
A NOTE FROM MISTAYA'S M.O.M.....As this fun filled year comes to a close I want to take this time to say thank you to all of Mistaya's blogger friends and their people. It has been a honor to have you follow our adventures...and to read about all of your adventures too. You have all brought joy into my life not just by leaving comments, but by my reading your fun posts in your blogs as well. What a wonderful, fun community this is and Mistaya and I both look forward to sharing all of our mischievous adventures together in the coming year.
May all your days be filled with joy, puppy kisses, kitty purrs and lot's of tail wags...all our love to all of you....Mistaya and her M.O.M.

MY SECOND CHRISTMAS

I had a lot of fun opening my Christmas presents. M.O.D. let me tear the paper off of my gifts myself and it was so much fun.
Of course I was very happy when I finally had all the wrapping paper off this gift. It was several yummy chew bones that I wanted to eat immediately!

I also received a new bandanna in a very pretty pink to wear on my hikes with M.O.M. and M.O.D......hopefully to many great walks on the beach soon too! I think I like this gift giving thing. Can we do it again tomorrow??
I forgot to mention that the pretty red disk thing is not really mine. It is a thing M.O.M. uses to stand on. She says she is trying to make her balance better. If it means more hikes for her and I, then I am all for her using this strange thing when ever she wants!

LOVE IN THE ANIMAL WORLD

This is truly wonderful...here’s to adding a grin of optimism to your day! ...

PORK CHOPS

In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cub's, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother.

The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species, will take on the care of a different species. The only 'orphans' that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops??

TAKE A CLOSE LOOK.........

Now, please tell me one more time ........?

Why can't the rest of the world get along??

THIS PUP'S JOB IS DONE HERE

As you can see, I have this flock of Wild Turkeys very well trained as they no longer wander onto my property to do their "business". They stay on that side of the fence when they do come to visit. I had fun chasing them out of the yard before they learned not to come here. But I didn't realize that once they stopped coming here meant I didn't get to chase them anymore. You see, M.O.M. doesn't allow me to chase them when we encounter them anywhere but in our yard. And I think they know this because they are not afraid of me and many of them make strange sounds at me. Do you think they are laughing at me? Hmm, I wonder...

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Sometimes when you are angry with someone,

It helps to sit down,

take a moment to cool off,

and think about the problem.

AT LAST! MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING PICTURES!

M.O.M. took me to my favorite farm store in the big city yesterday. As we entered the "Dog Heaven" part of the big store she asked me what I would like for Christmas.

So I lead her to some of my favorite things I had seen before.....

How about a nice bright ball to chase around the yard?

Wait a minute....something smells pretty good over here.....let's check this out...
Hey, something smells pretty good in here...maybe I could get a great big tasty bone in my stocking?

But wait! Look at all these bright pretty toys! Maybe one of those would make a great Christmas gift in my stocking.

Gosh, not only do they all look so pretty and would probably would be great to chew on....opps...I mean to play with! But I smell something good....

I think I smell something that smells so wonderful that I would give up any of these toys and maybe even a tasty bone just to get one of what ever is up there!

Oh my gosh!!!! That's where the terrific smell is coming from...way up there where I can't reach...darn. And I know just what they are....they are those delicious, scrumptious, yummy Pigs Ears!!!!
M.O.M. bought me a bag of those last summer and I enjoyed every one I got. But M.O.M. did not enjoy it when she gave them to me. She didn't even like the look of them let alone the smell and feel of them. You see, they really are pigs ears that have been processed for us dogs.
So as I was standing there begging my heart out for some of these for Christmas when M.O.M. knelt down beside me and softly told me that she just couldn't buy any more of these for me to eat...even though I ate them out in my kennel. She then promised me that she and M.O.D. would make sure I had a lot of tasty things in my Christmas stocking...just not Pigs Ears this year.

COMPUTER PROBLEMS TONIGHT

M.O.M. has been trying to post pictures of our trip to the big city to find me a Christmas present. I was able to pick out some things that I wanted and she did get some good pictures of my choices. But she can not get them to upload to blogger. So maybe we can show them tomorrow. Sorry friends...see you all tomorrow! hugs and wags, Mistaya

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER FOR PUPPIES!

M.O.M. looked out the back door this afternoon and saw that the thermometer said it was 35 degrees outside! Wahoo! She called the neighbor who often walks with us and she was just leaving to go to town. I heard M.O.M. ask if my friend Cody could go on the walk with us. She said yes!!
So M.O.M. quickly put on her coat, cap and gloves and we headed out the door.
We met up with Cody at the end of his driveway. Oh boy! let's start running!
The sun was bright and felt so good and we both enjoyed running everywhere...well, at least on the road. Even as we approached the area where I have to sit and "wait" for M.O.M. to walk to the big highway and back, I didn't even mind that Cody got to walk all the way down there with her. But I did noticed that M.O.M. turned Cody around and came back quite a ways before they got to the highway. I imagine she didn't want to take any chances with Cody getting to close to it either.
So my Friday turned out to be a wonderful day for me. I do hope our cold weather snap is gone and we can start getting out for walks outdoors more. It isn't much fun to watch M.O.M. walk on the "moving floor" anymore.

A CUTE PUPPY PHOTO FOR THE DAY

Because it is still so cold outside I really don't have anything exciting to write about today. M.O.M. did bundle up earlier this afternoon and took me out to the street...our dirt road...and threw my ball for me to chase several times. The sun was shining but it was still very cold. Of course I ran as fast as I could every time M.O.M. threw the ball and came running back real fast so she could throw it again.
I was very happy that she took time out of her busy tree decorating to play with me. Gosh, I definitely know that she really loves me! Yes, I knew the moment I saw her at the Animal Shelter more than a year ago that she would always love me!
But I still have trouble figuring out just why M.O.M. and M.O.D. are once again trying to grow a pretty tree in the living room. She put all kinds of shiny balls and stuff on it but they have no smell so I assume that they are not for eating. I am willing to give this thing some more time to see just what this tree is all about.

I will let your know if I can discover the secret to all of this!

THIS PUPPY WILL STAY INSIDE TODAY!

I heard M.O.M. say that today we will spend most of our time in the house cause it's to darn cold to go outside. She took this picture at 7:00 a.m. this morning!! Okay, I know she's right.

December 06, 2009

BRRRR...IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

M.O.M. opened the sliding door out to the deck just after dinner tonight to let me out to chew on my yummy bone treat. And as she did she notice that the temperature was already 4 degrees below zero! So she immediately called me back in and she let me chew this tasty treat on my blanket in front of my dog bed.
I did enjoy my treat as I layed on my blanket in the living room.
M.O.M. just checked the current temperature...at 7:30 P.M. and the temperature is now 5 degrees below zero. And darn, I have to go outside one more time before we all go to bed for the evening in a few hours. Maybe I should put on my sweater before I go out.
And thank you M.O.M. for letting me stay inside on my blanket to eat my wonderful treat.

HEY,WAIT A MINUTE!!! WHERE AM I?

I rode into town with M.O.M. yesterday and as we pulled into a parking lot I thought I saw and heard something a bit familiar. I got a bit excited and a little upset when I saw a dog chasing a ball in a enclosed area near the building. I just wasn't sure what was going on, or where I was.
As we came closer to the door of this building I could hear what I was sure very big dogs barking. You dogs and cats out there in blogland know what I mean cause you can easily tell the size of a dog by the sound of his bark can't you? Well, these dogs sounded real big. So I sat down thinking I sure didn't want to go anywhere near these giant sounding guys.

But M.O.M. spoke very kindly to me and encouraged me to go with her through the front door.

Of course when we entered I remembered immediately where I was. This was the place I was living in when M.O.M. and M.O.D. let me adopt them. But why am I here? Then I heard several voices I remembered that were staff members that were very kind to me.

When I put my paws up on the counter I saw my Charlotte right away. I tried to climb over the counter to greet her but of course M.O.M. wouldn't let me. So the staff came out to greet me and it was a very joyous time for me.

It was then that I heard M.O.M. tell Charlotte that I had lost my collar with my chip number tag plus my identification tag while I was racing through the woods on our camping trip. So she helped us to get replacement tags.

M.O.M. had stopped at the Animal Store on the way to the Animal Shelter so I now have a new collar with new tags attached...awesome!

M.O.M. did allow me to take a look into the kitten and cat room before we left. One little kitty came right up to the door and greeted me but just moments later the cat you can see just to the right of me came over quickly and snarled at me and told the kitten to get away. My catsister has never made those kind of noise at me so I was a bit surprised but decided that it was time to go home!

I did enjoy getting to see all of my friends at the Animal Shelter as they all treated me so lovingly while I was living there and they did rescue me when I was just a baby and I was in the scary forest. Thank you Bitterroot Humane Association! www.bitterroothumane.org of Hamilton, Montana for rescuing this little Miniature Auzzie pup!!! Your the reason M.O.M. started this blog to show the world that even thrown away, lost little souls like me can still have "a wonderful life."

I AM TEACHING MYSELF NEW SKILLS

This morning I decided that it was time to perfect my begging skills.

So the first photo is my first attempt at looking like I am starving...how am I doing?...how's my body language doing?...are my eyes saying the right thing?

Okay, is my body language better?....how about the eyes? Yes, I think my body language is getting much better but I think I need to work on what my eyes are saying. Let's see....
Do you think the eyes are saying the right thing???

Yeah, me too!!!! Now I am going to put all this practice to good use.

IT IS VERY COLD TODAY!

We had a little over two inches of snow today and M.O.M. didn't take me out for her speed walk. But of course I still had a fabulous time running and playing in the snow and eat as much of it as I could. Well gosh, you never know how long it will last this time. I have noticed it goes away pretty quick sometimes so I spend as much time as I can outside playing in it as M.O.M. and M.O.D. will let me.

Even though M.O.M. didn't walk outside, I went into her office this afternoon and saw her acting like she was outside walking but she wasn't moving....the floor under her was!!! But after a while the floor suddenly stopped moving and she climb off the moving floor. Weird. Then I heard M.O.M. say "That's enough of that "blankety, Blank treadmill!!" I wonder just what a "treadmill" is? I know she has lost a lot of weight and I overheard her tell M.O.D. she doesn't want to gain any of it back. I wonder it that has anything to do with the moving floor thing?
